Lessons: Learning to ride is a fun and engaging activity that can spark an interest and passion that can last a lifetime. Many studies have shown that horseback riding can have physical, social, and psychological benefits. Physical benefits include balance, coordination, fitness, and muscle strength. A 45 minute ride can burn up to 200 calories. Mental health benefits include improving mood, reducing stress, and increase feelings of well-being and happiness.  It can also help with anxiety, tension, irritability, fatigue, and motivation. One study found that riding can reduce depression by 30% and lower the risk of dementia by 30%. Lowering blood pressure – Exercise (like horse riding) lowers your BP, and so does spending time with animals (American Heart Association, 2023).
